So I'm not really sure how I managed to get this far in my life without encountering Emily Carroll.
She's so very much my thing:
I'm not sure where I initially read about Through the Woods, but the moment I did, I ordered it. Fairy-horror tales, replete with gruesome and haunting images. Dark threads, creepy images, bleak rooms and landscapes.
Just be sure not to mistake this for a children's book. The words are as strong as the images, and the book could survive with one element and not the other, which makes their marriage a beautiful and grisly world.
